Vibrating street styles: Fashion Week trends

October 18, 2016 / Men's Style, Women's style

Hey all! It’s been so exciting period for the fashion lovers lately. All those fashion weeks happening around the world! Paris, Milan, London, New York… all the big world capitals were really awake during September/October and vibrating styles and new trends brought to the runways!

The Uppers team was closely following all the novelties presented during the fashion shows and especially excited and inspired about the street styles found in every city. From the minimalist ensembles on the streets of Paris to the fabulous amount of chic bags in Milan, here are the best looks of the season.

PARIS FASHION WEEK

Voluminous sleeves… A trend with an Old English spin, voluminous sleeves have been everywhere this season — thanks in large part to designers inspired by Victoriana — but no city saw more of them than Paris.

Rocker chic… There was a distinct rocker vibe to many looks in Paris — some skewed more Bowie, others channeled the ’80s mega rock stars.

Bows… Looks adorned with bows — and there were many — stepped away from the overtly feminine and more towards a relaxed and floppy feel. Ruffles have been experiencing the same thing for spring in every Fashion Month city.

MILAN FASHION WEEK

Logos… The coolest way to pledge your allegiance to a brand — at least according to Milan runways and street looks — is wearing an item stamped with the label’s logo. We’ve seen the resurgence of logomania permeate designers’ collections for a few seasons now, and it’s clearly continuing through spring.

Sporty… There was a big push for sportswear in Milan — more so than in any of the other major cities thus far this season.

Military jackets… We’ve noticed plenty of chic showgoers hitting the fashion month circuit in military jackets decorated with epaulets, gold buttons, and all sorts of passementerie.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Extreme earings… Whether worn solo or as a pair, fashion has been all about statement earrings recently; and the ear party continues for spring with shoulder-grazing door-knockers. The bigger and bolder, the better.

White sweatshirts… Streetwear continues its reign, with street style showing updated takes on a classic athleisure staple: the white sweatshirt. Vera Wang’s version with drop shoulders and elongated sleeves was anything but basic.

Silver… It doesn’t get more glam than liquid silver lame. Whether shown for night or day, designers from Marc Jacobs to the Mulleavy sisters at Rodarte were all about shiny metallics. And the New York fashion street style was also about the silver.

The last but not the least… different size silk scarves and masculine autumn scarves were one of the most-liked accessories in all the fashion capitals! Lots of inspiring style icons used them as a main detail in their looks. Elegant, sporty, classy, chic, casual… a scarf is a cherry on top for any style and look. Here goes some of them…
